Purpose-Built Security Hardware: Now Micro Starts With the Problem, Not the Product

In physical security, more power isn’t always the answer. The right hardware needs to deliver the performance an application requires—without forcing integrators and end users to pay for capacity they don’t need.

That philosophy is at the heart of Now Micro’s purpose-built approach to product development. Rather than developing a product first and finding an application for it later, Now Micro starts by listening to the challenges integrators are actually facing and builds solutions around those needs.

The Vigilant S3000G server is a perfect example.

Filling the Gap for Demanding Security Environments

As unified physical security platforms continue to bring together video surveillance, access control, analytics, and other applications, the hardware supporting them has to keep pace.

Now Micro began hearing a specific need from integrators: a single-processor, 16-core system capable of supporting demanding unified security environments, including deployments running platforms such as Genetec.

While the necessary performance was already available in larger configurations, those systems could mean moving customers into a 28-core processor and additional memory—adding cost and capacity that some applications simply didn't require.

Instead of asking customers to adapt to the available hardware, Now Micro developed hardware that better fit the application.

The result is the Vigilant S3000G, an enterprise-grade 2U platform built around a single Intel® Xeon® 16-core processor and designed to support leading VMS platforms and other demanding physical security applications.

Purpose-Built Doesn't Mean One-Size-Fits-All

The S3000G also highlights something bigger about the way Now Micro approaches physical security hardware.

Depending on the platform and application, Now Micro can configure storage, memory, graphics cards, network cards, operating systems, and pre-installed software around the requirements of a particular deployment. That flexibility can apply whether an integrator needs one specialized system or a consistent configuration across a large rollout.

For integrators, that means less time piecing together individual components, validating compatibility, and supporting hardware assembled from multiple sources.

Instead, the goal is a system designed around the job from the beginning.

Performance Where You Need It

Perhaps most importantly, Now Micro's approach isn't simply about building the biggest or most powerful system possible.

It's about matching performance, reliability, scalability, and cost to the actual workload.

The Vigilant S3000G fills the space between a system that may not provide enough processing power and a larger, more expensive configuration that provides more capacity than the application requires.

That makes the S3000G more than another server option—it demonstrates what purpose-built product development can look like when customer feedback drives the process.

Building Around the Application

Security environments are becoming increasingly complex, but the hardware conversation doesn't have to be.

By listening to integrators, evaluating the demands of the application, and configuring systems around real-world requirements, Now Micro helps create solutions that are easier to specify, deploy, and support.
